Pyrodex Founder Joins USP Expert Panel on the Monocyte Activation Test

PyroDex founder Djikolngar "Djik" Maouyo has accepted an invitation to join the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) Expert Panel on the Monocyte Activation Test (MAT).

USP is an independent, nonprofit organization. It sets the public standards that the pharmaceutical industry follows. In April 2026, USP called for volunteers to form an expert panel on the MAT. The panel will help shape guidance for how the test is used.

Europe has moved away from animal-based pyrogen testing, and other major markets are following. U.S. manufacturers who sell abroad must meet those standards. The MAT is a human-cell-based alternative, and it is at the center of that shift. For the past nine years, Djik has worked hands-on with the MAT at PyroDex, testing many sample types and method variations.

He is grateful for the chance to bring that experience to the panel, and he looks forward to working with his fellow volunteers.
